Father and Son Blacksmithing (SOLD OUT)
Saturday, 07 August 2010, 09:30 - 15:00
A one day blacksmithing courses to be shared. This is a great opportunity for young people 10 - 18 years old and their parents to share a new experiences. The projects are designed so they can be completed by a range of abilities, so everyone can make something. Skills will be developed in hammering, drawing, shaping and twisting steel. Projects will be completed by working together and helping each other. This is not just an all boy program, so mothers, daughters can be involved as well. So can grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and family friends. It was a bit too hard to fit all the combinations in the title.

There is an emphasis on making things that will be  useful and  easily completed in the time - hooks, fire tools, small butter knives, candlesticks. If there's something in particular you would like to make, let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Both participants need to be able to swing a hammer with some degree of accuracy (nothing that a little practice on a block of wood can't help). It is a physical day, and you will sleep well after it.
